ENGL - What are the differences among American, Brit, and World Lit I and II? Number of tests and papers in each?

The titles of the literature courses have been recently changed to reflect the time periods they cover. They can be taken in any order and do not have to be taken consecutively. Pre-requisites for Literature courses include both English 1301 and 1302.

 

§         American Lit Colonial – Civ War (previously American Literature I)
Covers American literature from the colonial period until the Civil War

§         American Lit Civ War – Pres (previously American Literature II)
Covers American literature from the Civil War to present day

§         British Lit Angl Saxon – Mid 18 (previously British Lit I)
Covers British literature from the Middle Ages to the 1700s

§         British Lit Mid 18 – Present (previously British Lit II)
Covers British literature from the 1800s to the present

§         World Lit Anc't Times – Mid 17 (previously World Lit I)
Covers World literature from the Ancient World to the 1600s

§         World Lit Mid 17 – Present (previously World Lit II)
Covers World literature from the 1700s to the present

 

The number of tests and papers in these courses will depend on the instructor. However, students can expect both. Papers will often be analytical in nature and rely on the writing, reading, and analytical skills learned in English 1301 and 1302.
